Empowering Women through Banana Fiber Craft Making
We are excited to share our recent accomplishment – a 3-day workshop (13th – 15th September 2023) on Banana Fiber Craft Making, organized in collaboration with Runway India, a private company based in Dimapur, Nagaland.
Workshop Highlights:
At Oasis India, our mission is to make India a better place for women and children, and this workshop is a significant step towards achieving that goal. The workshop aimed to equip women with the skills and knowledge necessary to create economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods, while also promoting the use of natural resources like Banana and Coconut.
Skill Development:
During the 3-day workshop, our participants were introduced to the art of working with natural materials like Banana Fiber. They learned to create exquisite baskets and bags from this eco-friendly resource. By harnessing their creative potential, they can now generate income for their families, ensuring a brighter and more secure future.
Materials Distribution:
To support and encourage continued practice, we provided participants with the necessary materials to hone their craft. We believe in making it easy for them to pursue this new skill and create beautiful, marketable products that can provide economic stability.
Economic Empowerment:
Participants were not only trained in the art of Banana Fiber Craft Making but were also informed about the market value of the products they create. Our commitment extends beyond the workshop, as Oasis India is dedicated to helping the community in every way possible. We want to ensure that their hard work translates into a sustainable source of income and that their craft can find its way to the global market.
